About Tanzania About Tanzania

Tanzania’s president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, was presented with three international awards the country won at the World Travel Awards 2025. Often describefd as the “Oscars” of the travel industry, the awards are among the most prestigious in global tourism. The official ceremony took place on December 6 in Bahrain, while the awards themselves were formally handed to the head of state on January 5 in Zanzibar.

The most prestigious of the honors was the title World’s Leading Safari Destination. In this category, Tanzania outperformed Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In addition, Serengeti National Park was named World’s Leading National Park, surpassing South Africa’s Kruger National Park and even Yellowstone National Park.

Finally, at the World Travel Awards gala for Africa and the Indian Ocean region, Tanzania was recognized as a Leading Tourist Destination. This event took place earlier, on June 28 in Dar es Salaam, where Tanzania competed with other popular travel destinations across the continent.

Other awards won by Tanzania

In total, Tanzania received 45 World Travel Awards in 2025, spanning both the public sector and the tourism industry. For example, Serengeti Balloon Safaris was named the World’s Leading Hot Air Balloon Safari Operator; Zanzibar was recognized as the best destination for corporate retreats; and Jumeirah Thanda Resort on the small Thanda Island, near Mafia Island, was awarded Best Island Resort.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan praised the joint efforts of the government and the private sector. According to her, such achievements are the result of consistent work in environmental protection and tourism development. Combined with Tanzania’s diverse natural landscapes and the warmth of its people, these efforts continue to attract travelers from around the world.

Altezza Travel at World Travel Awards

In 2025, Altezza Travel was named Tanzania’s Leading Tour Operator for the second year in a row. We first received this title in 2024, along with the award for the country’s Leading Destination Management Company. This recognition reflects the fact that our team not only organizes Kilimanjaro climbs and safari tours at the highest level, but also delivers complex projects that require deep expertise. These include corporate events for leading international companies, scientific expeditions, support for film crews, and much more.
