About Altezza About Altezza

On October 19, 2024, we at Altezza Travel were deeply honored to be recognized by the World Travel Awards as “Tanzania’s Leading Tour Operator” and “Tanzania’s Leading Destination Management Company.” These awards are some of the highest acknowledgments in the travel industry, and we are proud that our dedication over the past decade has been rewarded.

We’re also thrilled that Mount Kilimanjaro, one of our most beloved destinations, was named “Africa's Leading Tourism Attraction.” Each year, more and more travelers come to experience the majesty of Kilimanjaro, and it’s no surprise why—it truly is one of the most spectacular destinations in the world.

The Tanzania Tourist Board, too, received recognition, winning “Africa's Leading Tourism Board” for their incredible work promoting Tanzania’s natural beauty. We’re proud to contribute to Tanzania’s growing reputation as a top destination in Africa.

What are the World Travel Awards?

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are widely regarded as the benchmark for excellence in the global travel industry. They honor outstanding companies and organizations across a wide array of categories. With a reputation for being the most respected and independent accolades in the field, these awards are a mark of quality and innovation in travel and tourism.

What do these awards mean for Altezza Travel?

Winning in both categories is a huge achievement, and it highlights our ability to offer a wide range of services:

  • Tour Operator: This award celebrates our core operations, like organizing Kilimanjaro climbs and safaris. We handle everything in-house, from hiring expert guides to maintaining a fleet of top-quality vehicles.
  • Destination Management Company (DMC): As a DMC, we handle more complex and customized projects that require local expertise, such as coordinating corporate events, scientific expeditions, and supporting film crews.

After more than a decade of operating in Tanzania, we’ve grown into a trusted travel partner. With our own fleet of vehicles, two hotels, and a team of over 250 office professionals and about 3000 mountain staff, we ensure high-quality service, whether we’re planning an adventurous trek or managing a specialized large-scale project.

Why was Altezza chosen?

While the exact criteria for the World Travel Awards aren’t fully revealed, several factors likely contributed to our success:

Kilimanjaro Leadership

We guide more climbers to the summit of Kilimanjaro than any other company. In 2024 alone, we helped over 5,000 trekkers reach the summit, representing 15% of all successful climbs for the year. Safety, comfort, and environmental responsibility are at the heart of every trek we organize.

Premium Tanzanian safaris

We offer private safaris that are tailored to the unique needs of each client, whether it’s a family trip or a group adventure. Our safari vehicles are among the best in the region, designed to provide comfort while exploring Tanzania’s incredible wildlife and landscapes.

Technological innovation

We have an in-house IT team that has created an advanced system to make travel planning easier. What once took days can now be completed in minutes, allowing for a more efficient, tailored travel experience. You can view a sample itinerary on our website, offering a glimpse of our innovative travel planning system.

Outstanding reviews

With thousands of glowing 5-star reviews on Trustpilot and TripAdvisor, our dedication to customer satisfaction is widely recognized. This feedback likely played a key role in securing Altezza’s awards.

Community and environmental impact

As a proudly Tanzania-based company, we invest a significant portion of our revenue into making our home — Kilimanjaro a better place for the local people and the environment. One of our recent accomplishments is the installation of fire safety containers in Kilimanjaro National Park, enhancing the park's readiness to combat wildfires and protect its delicate ecosystem.

Our conservation efforts extend beyond Kilimanjaro. We fund the care of a baby rhino, actively support the Serengeti de-snaring project to protect wildlife, and contribute to reforestation in the Kilimanjaro foothills and Rundugai. In the Amani Forest, we’re involved in conservation projects to preserve its rich biodiversity. Visit Altezza’s blog to learn more about these initiatives.

Our commitment to making a lasting positive impact in Tanzania is ongoing. We have ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond, and we look forward to continuing our work to protect this incredible country. Stay updated on our latest initiatives by visiting Altezza’s blog.
