At Altezza Travel, we are committed to conducting our Tanzania safari and Mt. Kilimanjaro operations with the highest level of environmental and social responsibility. We recognize our duty to preserve the natural beauty of Tanzania, support local communities, and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.

Our sustainability policy outlines our dedication to these principles:

Environmental Stewardship

• We minimize our environmental impact by following Leave No Trace principles during safaris and treks.
• We reduce waste and promote recycling and responsible waste disposal.
• We continually work to lower our carbon footprint through efficient vehicle management and office practices
• We proactively address the challenges faced by Tanzania's conservation stakeholders. As of September 2024, our conservation initiatives have included providing firefighting equipment to Kilimanjaro National Park, conducting large-scale reforestation projects in the Rundugai area and around the Kilimanjaro National Park, and playing a key role in wildfire suppression efforts.
• We are committed to continuing our proactive engagement with conservation challenges in the coming years, always dedicating our best efforts and resources where they are most needed. 

Wildlife Conservation

• We promote responsible wildlife viewing practices and adhere to wildlife protection regulations.
• We proactively address the challenges faced by Tanzania's conservation stakeholders. As of September 2024, our conservation initiatives have included providing firefighting equipment to Kilimanjaro National Park, conducting large-scale reforestation projects in the Rundugai area and restoring eco-balance close to Kilimanjaro National Park, as well as dedicating our resources for wildfire suppression efforts.
• We are also actively involved in wildlife protection efforts. Altezza Travel regularly donates to the Serengeti De-snaring Project, an initiative led by the Frankfurt Zoological Society. Additionally, we support the care of a baby rhino in the Mkomazi sanctuary and participate in other impactful wildlife conservation initiatives.
• We are committed to continuing our proactive engagement with conservation challenges in the coming years, always dedicating our best efforts and resources where they are most needed.

Community Engagement

• We prioritize working with local guides, porters, and suppliers to ensure fair wages and ethical working conditions through our recognized partnership with the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project. 
• We engage with local communities to create opportunities for education, employment, and economic growth including an education fund supporting schools in the Kilimanjaro region  
• We support community projects that enhance healthcare, education, and infrastructure in the areas where we operate with financial, volunteer, and supply support for reforestation and wildfire prevention, reduction and management. 
• We actively participate in global collaboration through Altezza’s membership with the UN Tourism. 

Cultural Respect

• We respect the cultural heritage of Tanzania's diverse ethnic groups and promote cultural sensitivity among our staff and guests.
• We encourage responsible tourism that benefits local cultures and traditions without causing harm.

Guest Education

• We provide our guests with information and guidelines for responsible travel, including wildlife protection and cultural respect.
• We strive to raise awareness about conservation and sustainability in Tanzania.

Continuous Improvement

• We regularly review and update our sustainability practices, seeking opportunities for improvement.
• We collaborate with industry partners, conservation organizations, and local communities to share best practices and insights.
