Safari in National Parks: Arusha, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater
It's easy to plunge into the wild world of Africa on a walking safari in Arusha National Park. Imagine: you can walk past plump zebras, restless buffalos and long-necked giraffes grazing just 100 meters from you. And this is just the first day provided by this wildlife safari in Africa! The next two days are equally interesting: Tarangire is well-known for elephants and baobabs, and ancient Ngorongoro Crater offers the maximum density of animals per square kilometer than anywhere else on earth.

Arusha National Park is a lush green corner of wildlife tucked at the foot of Mount Meru - the second-highest peak in Tanzania. It’s one of the few places in the country where you can not only drive through the wilderness but also step out and experience it on foot. Walking safaris here are led by an armed ranger who ensures you stay at a safe distance from wild animals and shares fascinating insights about the local plants and creatures.
If you're curious to learn more about the park, you can also stop by the Ngurdoto Museum. It features displays about the fight against poaching and other stories highlighting the relationship between humans and nature.
There’s something for everyone in Arusha! Craving adventure? Head off on a 4-hour trek through the tropical forest at the base of Mount Meru. More into wildlife watching? Opt for a short 1.5-hour bush walk to a scenic waterfall. Prefer wide-open views? Try canoeing on the Momella Lakes or enjoy a classic safari drive in a 4x4. You can even mix and match a few of these activities in one day!
This program includes a short bush walk - a great way to experience the wild side of Africa at your own pace. Afterward, you’ll hop into a safari jeep and continue exploring the park. On the walk, it's easy to spot giraffes, bushbuck antelopes, buffalos, and warthogs - sometimes just 20–30 meters away!
Later, you’ll head to the beautiful Momella Lakes. From October to March, they attract flocks of pink flamingos. In total, around 200 bird species can be seen here, including ibises, pelicans, hornbills, and even vultures.
If you’d like to include a longer trek, a canoe trip, or any other activity combo - just let your manager know, and we’ll make it happen.
Additional notes:
This is your first day on safari, so we kindly ask that you pay special attention to the national park visitor rules and our company’s recommendations:
- It is strictly prohibited to exit the vehicle during the safari, except in designated areas. Violating this rule may result in significant fines for the company, including the revocation of its license.
- Off-road driving is also prohibited as it can cause irreparable damage to the delicate balance of the park's ecosystem.
- Smoking is allowed during the safari, but please be extremely careful when extinguishing and disposing of cigarette butts, as they are a frequent cause of fires in the savanna.
- We kindly ask that you do not put your feet on the seats or sit on the backs of the safari vehicle’s seats, as such behavior quickly damages the vehicle.
Thank you in advance for your understanding!

Today your safari will take place in Tarangire National Park. This is one of the most interesting places in Tanzania! The river of the same name flows through the park, where giraffes, zebras, antelopes and buffaloes come to drink. These animals attract predators, which is why a lot of lions live in Tarangire. You will definitely see them during your trip.
In the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes the only source of drinking water for many kilometers around. Because of this, large herds of elephants come to Tarangire, making Tarangire the home to the largest population of elephants in Northern Tanzania for most of the year (especially June - October and December - March). Elephants are not at all intimidated by visitors to the park, and they often come quite close to cars. This is completely safe - since elephants have no enemies in their natural nature they are naturally curious and unafraid.
Tarangire National Park is also known for its ancient baobab trees. These massive trees are larger and older than any other park in continental Africa. The scenery, accented with these signatory trees is simply stunning.

On this day, it is best to leave the hotel as early as possible to maximize your chances of seeing the animals that are most active in the morning. Depending on whether you’d like to extend your safari time, breakfast can either be served at the hotel or packed in lunchboxes for you to enjoy on the go. At 6:30 AM, you will depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after about an hour, you will enter the crater.
Ngorongoro is one of the most famous and fascinating national parks in Tanzania, as it is home to the highest concentration of animal species per square kilometer. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to see buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and feline species like caracals and servals. The luckiest travelers may even spot a rhinoceros, whose population is rapidly declining.
By lunchtime, you'll arrive at the lakeside, where lunchboxes will be provided. After lunch, you can either continue the safari or begin your drive back to your hotel in Arusha - whichever you prefer!

Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Note: Hotel check-out is at 10:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out before your evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay for an extra fee. Let your manager know in advance if you need a late check-out.
