Karatu Simba Lodge

Karatu Simba Lodge 3*

Embraced by the restful Ngorongoro Forest landscape, this quiet and home-like 3-star lodge is the perfect place to regain energy after a long and dusty day on safari. Daytime impressions will be revived as you will catch the sounds of nocturnal creatures living their bustling and rustling lives. Naughty bush babies crying, hyenas laughing softly, yellow baboons howling and other swishing and chirring of Tanzanian savannah!

Karatu Simba Lodge is half an hour away from Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park which are homes to buffalos, giraffes, elephants, zebras, lions, cheetahs, servals and many other African inhabitants. The remote location of Karatu Simba Lodge from the main roads allows you to see these animals in a close proximity to the tents. The lodge is permeated with the spirit of safari, from a close presence of wild animals to the interior conveying the local pastoral style and furnished with local materials and handmade decor.

Here you can be fully emerged in the tranquility of pastoral life with its nutritiously delicious meals and surrounding fertile fields of barley, corn, wheat and sunflowers. A swimming pool, small but really snug, is arranged some further and lower from the tents, among the hills. From your tent, you can spot a distant view of the rim of Ngorongoro Crater.

Karatu Simba Lodge on the map

Karatu Simba Lodge boasts a strategic location for all animal-lovers, near the Rhotia village in Karatu Region. It will take you 4 kilometers to get to the main entry to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and further, on your memorable safari in the Ngorongoro Crater. The lodge is similarly perfect for those who want to spend a day in Lake Manyara National Park to see flamingos and pelicans - it is only 30 minutes away. Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater would be particularly engaging in January and February as you can catch the calving season of wildebeest. The period from June to September is perfect for safari: vegetation becomes thinner, giving an easier chance to spot the animals. Lake Manyara National Park features peculiarly scenic views in the rainy November or spring months, with its lush vegetation and waterfalls, when huge populations migrating flamingos, pelicans, cormorants and storks are attracted to the lake.
