This immersive safari begins in Mkomazi National Park, a hidden gem where you can see black rhinos being actively protected and experience a quieter, less-visited side of Tanzania. Afterwards, you explore Maasai culture at the Original Maasai Lodge, built like traditional homesteads but with modern comfort, offering a window into local life. The journey then gently transitions to the more familiar northern parks with Arusha National Park, where walking safaris and canoe trips set the pace, and Lake Natron’s seasonal wetlands offering incredible birdwatching opportunities.
Next, the classic northern circuit unfolds with Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater to see the ancient baobabs and learn about the history of mankind. The journey culminates in Serengeti National Park, the most remote park on the route, where four nights let you explore vast plains at leisure.
Each stop is paced carefully with a few nights at each, giving time to absorb the environment and enjoy sunsets, bush dinners, and short walks, keeping the safari feeling fresh without rush. Comfort is maximized with a flight out from Serengeti. Together, this program offers a smooth, immersive, and truly comprehensive northern Tanzania adventure.

Itinerary
The group arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Participants are met by a representative of Altezza Travel and transferred to a hotel in Arusha.
Note: Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.
Today, you will visit one of Tanzania's northern national parks — Mkomazi. It's a great destination because it's less crowded with visitors and safari vehicles. The park offers vast landscapes, stunning scenery, and unexpected wildlife encounters. The name "Mkomazi" means "Water for one spoon" in a local language, reflecting the scarcity of water bodies here, so don't expect to see a large number of animals. Visitors from around the world come here to see rhinos and the incredibly beautiful African wild dogs up close.
Mkomazi is home to one of the world's best sanctuaries where black rhinos are bred. Despite their name, black rhinos have gray skin. In past decades, poachers exterminated almost all rhinos in the country, so the current population is heavily protected. You'll ride in an open vehicle to get close to these peaceful animals and observe them without binoculars — a unique opportunity in Tanzania. You'll also see the tricolored wild dogs, which are also bred and protected here. Take a walk around the base area, and you might encounter monkey families, many plump hyraxes, as well as squirrels, mongooses, and lizards, among other wildlife.
Mkomazi National Park is quite large, spanning over 3,200 sq. km (1,200 sq. mi.) It stretches between the Pare Mountains and Kenya's Tsavo West National Park. Animals freely cross the border between the two countries, so there's always a chance to see herds of migrating elephants and, if you're lucky, lions. Buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and several types of antelopes graze in the park's valley. You might even spot the rare and beautiful gerenuk antelopes, also known as giraffe gazelles for their long necks. We recommend visiting the elephant watering hole, even if you went there the day before. You never know when animals will come to quench their thirst and splash in the water.
The park's diverse birdlife is a particular point of pride. There are over 400 avian species here. Birders can easily spot large birds of prey like vultures, buzzards, and eagles. Notable smaller birds include hoopoes and starlings with their shiny plumage. You're sure to encounter many bustling guinea fowls on the roads too. Keep your binoculars ready — you will see a wide variety of birds perched in the trees!
You've extended your stay in Mkomazi National Park for another day, increasing your chances of encountering the fascinating wildlife. Focus your exploration on the most promising areas where herbivores frequently gather, such as waterholes and open fields. These spots often provide unique opportunities to observe rare wildlife events, such as lions visiting a watering hole or predators hunting young antelopes. You're also likely to see large herds of giraffes. Maintain a safe distance and use binoculars to observe how these majestic creatures rise and recline, engage in neck-wrestling, or gently protect their young.
Mkomazi is a perfect setting for studying a variety of antelope species. Besides the numerous impalas, you might see the long-faced hartebeest, the striking oryxes with their long horns, the lesser kudus with striped sides, the large elands, and Grant's gazelles, which are also classified as antelopes. The park is home to around 80 different species of animals. Although it might be challenging to spot them all in just three days, the peaceful and quiet environment of Mkomazi is sure to offer numerous surprises to its inquisitive guests.
Today is your final day in Mkomazi, and you can choose how to enjoy it. You might head out into the park early in the morning, or take it easy at the lodge until check-out. From the lodge’s viewing platform, you can spot wildlife coming to the waterhole nearby. Or join your guide for a short drive to the waterhole or on the lookout for elusive lions.
After a relaxed lunch, you’ll transfer to your next hotel. Today is all about slowing down and enjoying gentle moments before the excitement of new parks, fresh landscapes, and more adventures ahead.
Today, you will dive into the heart of Maasai traditions. Try your hand at spear throwing and javelin competitions, learning from the Maasai warriors who have practiced these skills for generations. These activities were once part of lion-hunting training, and now offer a fun, interactive way to connect with the culture. You can also spend time exploring the lodge surroundings with a Maasai guide, who will share stories and explain the significance of these practices. For example, you’ll discover why certain decorations or clothing colors carry very specific meanings – often linked to age, social status, or a person’s stage of life within the community.
Start the day with a guided nature walk with a Maasai guide, exploring the local flora and discovering herbs and medicinal plants that have been used for centuries.
Meet the villagers and learn about Maasai customs, daily life, and traditions, and how this knowledge is preserved without written records: shared instead from elders to children through observation, repetition, and lived practice. You can try preparing your own herbal tea while listening to fascinating cultural stories. Later, enjoy more interactive games or friendly competitions with the Maasai, deepening your understanding of their lifestyle.
Today is your day to relax and enjoy the stunning views of West Kilimanjaro one last time. Take a slow morning to enjoy the scenery and capture the beauty of the surrounding hills and plains. After breakfast, you’ll depart the lodge and transfer back to Arusha, using this stop as a comfortable waypoint before continuing your adventure to new national parks, wildlife, and unforgettable memories ahead. Get ready - more excitement awaits!
Arusha National Park is one of the most exceptional and conveniently located safari destinations in northern Tanzania. Despite its relatively small size, the park boasts unmatched geographical diversity – from the rainforest slopes of Mount Meru to the scenic Momella Lakes and wide savannah plains. This variety offers a truly rich and immersive safari experience.
One of the unique highlights of Arusha is the opportunity to go on foot – it's one of the few parks in Tanzania where walking safaris are allowed. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you’ll walk through the acacia-dotted bushland, where encounters with giraffes, bushbuck antelopes, warthogs, and buffalo are possible from as close as 20–30 meters. The ranger will ensure your safety while sharing fascinating insights about the ecosystem and wildlife behavior.
At Momella Lakes, you can spot flamingos, hornbills, ibises, pelicans, vultures, and many other of the 200+ bird species that call the park home.
Enjoy a peaceful break from the classic Land Cruiser game drive and go canoeing at Momella Lake. During this two-hour paddling journey, you'll be surrounded by a diverse array of water birds. Wildlife such as buffaloes, antelopes, and giraffes may also come into view as they approach the shore. In clear weather, you'll be treated to the majestic view of Mount Meru. The enchanting presence of African birdlife all around will fully immerse you in the beauty and tranquility of this place. For a more varied experience, we recommend combining this activity with a 1.5-hour walking safari. The package includes safety vests, a boat, paddles, and the services of a guide.
This day will take place at Lake Natron, a very beautiful and remote place. Often featured in wildlife magazines, Natron is the only place in the world that has red-hued water. The color is attributed to a high content of special bacteria, which have a blood-red color. However, it can only be seen and photographed from a bird's-eye view. Lake Natron has very beautiful African landscapes and wild animals: ostriches, antelopes, zebras, giraffes also live here, but due to its remote nature, there are not many tourists. This is a great place to start or end your safari through Tanzania's northern parks.
It can be quite hot during the day. To freshen up, you can swim in the springs nearby. Water flows into them directly from the slopes of the Ngorongoro Reserve. It is very pure and well-saturated with sulfur. Some scientists believe it is beneficial for the development of bones in the body. We're not sure about that, but it's definitely not harmful.
Several authentic African tribes live around the lake, including the famous Maasai. You may visit their settlements and see their way of life.
Very beautiful birds live on Lake Natron including large and small flamingos, which can have numbers of tens of thousands at a time! The brilliant pink birds taking flight is a very beautiful sight. Flamingos are very fond of Lake Natron, because here they are guaranteed not to be disturbed by predators because of the water’s high alkaline level. Every year from September through to April, more than three-quarters of all Lesser Flamingos in the world are born on Lake Natron. Eggs are laid in the shallow mud of the waters, and new chicks hatch along the shore. Through binoculars, you can watch very small chicks that are just taking their first steps. They are still gray in color, but very soon their plumage will begin to turn pink.
In addition to flamingos, pelicans and other birds are found in the vicinity of Lake Natron. In the wild, they behave completely differently from the zoo - the birds are very active and playful.
Today your guide will take you to the Engaresero Falls. These are picturesque waterfalls, found only by a pleasant hike. The falls are not accessible by car, but you will be led by a guide from the local Masai tribe. It takes approximately one hour, and we advise wearing light shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. You can swim in the pools below the waterfall, do not forget your bathing suit and a towel! Wild animals can be seen in the Natron area. Although there are not as many of them as in the Serengeti, you can easily spot giraffes, zebras, ostriches, hyenas, impalas, wildebeests and other savannah inhabitants. Keep your camera ready!
Finally, there is one of the few active volcanoes in East Africa - Ol Doinyo Lengai, the "Mountain of God" in the Maasai language. The area provides excellent photo opportunities to capture African landscapes.
Mto wa Mbu is a village of about 18,000 people. It is a cultural melting pot of 120 different tribes peacefully co-existing in a beautiful bright mix. Here you can see the tribes' traditional houses, visit the local market and sneak a peek at the daily labor routine of the local farmers, artisans, craftsmen and painters. At the banana plantation, you'll be guided through all the varieties of this plant and the multiple ways to use it, from food to building and art materials. The art group will tell you all about the different painting styles while wood craftsmen will share their expertise on the types of local wood and the meanings behind the traditional carvings. These are only a few of the available activities at Mto Wa Mbu, but we definitely suggest topping this experience off with mbege - the traditional banana and millet beer!
Today your safari will take place in Tarangire National Park. This is one of the most interesting places in Tanzania! The river of the same name flows through the park, where giraffes, zebras, antelopes and buffaloes come to drink. These animals attract predators, which is why a lot of lions live in Tarangire. You will definitely see them during your trip.
In the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes the only source of drinking water for many kilometers around. Because of this, large herds of elephants come to Tarangire, making Tarangire the home to the largest population of elephants in Northern Tanzania for most of the year (especially June - October and December - March). Elephants are not at all intimidated by visitors to the park, and they often come quite close to cars. This is completely safe - since elephants have no enemies in their natural nature they are naturally curious and unafraid.
Tarangire National Park is also known for its ancient baobab trees. These massive trees are larger and older than any other park in continental Africa. The scenery, accented with these signatory trees is simply stunning.
A 1.5-hour walk lets you experience the wilderness up close! Offering a unique perspective, it focuses on nature in general rather than just wildlife. While you might not see as many big animals as you would on a car drive, walking allows you to notice the smaller wonders around you in the bush. You might come across creatures like mongooses, Guinea fowls, and vervet monkeys. Your guide you will help you spot fresh tracks of elephants or buffalo herds.
Keep in mind that while you may get close to some larger animals like zebras, giraffes, or antelopes, they often keep their distance or move away. Though wildlife sightings are unpredictable, this adds an exciting element of chance to your adventure! The landscape itself is stunning, with massive baobab trees, acacia woodlands, and the vast African bush. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and long, light pants for added comfort, along with a sunhat. Sunscreen is essential, and binoculars will be useful for spotting wildlife at the distance.
Your second day in Tarangire National Park. Your Altezza guide will show you the sections of Tarangire that you did not have time to visit yesterday. There are a lot of interesting locations with beautiful views, and even more African animals. In Tarangire, you can see rare species, some of which are not usually found even in the Serengeti, such as long-necked gerenuks and oryx.
Also in Tarangire, there are hyraxes - small funny animals that are the closest relatives of elephants, despite their very different size. It is very interesting to watch them, and they willingly let visitors come fairly close for photos only (remember: no touching wildlife!).
In addition, bird lovers will be interested in Tarangire because there are more than 550 species of birds here! We have good resolution binoculars in our car so you can see them even better.
After an exciting afternoon game drive, you will settle into a cozy spot outside your lodge with a view of the African savannah. As the sun sets, the sky bursts into vibrant oranges, pinks, and purples. Having a snack and a drink against this stunning backdrop is a perfect way to savor the moment! Please check the provided set of snacks & drinks with your travel expert.
Today is your third day exploring Tarangire – and this park truly deserves it! With each passing day, you get more in tune with the rhythm of the wild. You start noticing animal behavior, small details, and hidden corners that might have gone unnoticed before.
Your Altezza guide will take you to quieter areas of the park, away from the usual tourist routes, where it feels like you have the wilderness all to yourself. You might spot a cheetah lounging under acacia branches, or a pride of lions basking in the morning sun. Some of the most unforgettable wildlife moments happen when you least expect them!
Today you are heading to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater. We recommend starting the drive early, usually around 6:30–7:00 AM, depending on your lodge location. This allows you to enjoy the crater in the quieter morning hours before larger crowds arrive. The descent from the rim to the crater floor takes about 30 minutes, passing along the forested crater wall, while the spectacular panorama of the caldera gradually opens up below.
The crater formed about 2 million years ago when a massive volcano collapsed after a powerful eruption, creating one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas. Inside this ancient volcanic crater lives an extraordinary concentration of wildlife – one of the highest densities of animals anywhere in Africa.
Elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, and zebras are commonly seen here, and the crater is also one of the few places where you might spot the endangered black rhino. Although animals can leave the caldera, most remain thanks to the abundant grasslands and reliable water sources. One animal you will not see here is the giraffe – their body structure makes it difficult for them to descend the steep crater walls. The crater forms part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its exceptional wildlife density and unique volcanic landscape.
For lunch, your guide will take you to a scenic picnic area near a Hippo Pool. This spot is popular with many birds, including kites that sometimes try to snatch food from the table, so it’s best not to leave meals unattended. The lake is also home to hippos, which often rest near the shore and surface regularly, offering great chances to observe them while you eat.
Please remember not to feed any animals in Ngorongoro or other parks in Tanzania. Human food can seriously harm wildlife and disrupt their natural diet. This is also strictly prohibited by park regulations, and anyone caught feeding animals may face a fine.
Today, you will drive towards Serengeti through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a protected site known for its diverse landscapes including tropical rainforest, savannah, and abundant wildlife. While Ngorongoro Crater is the highlight, the entire area offers stunning scenery and animals like baboons, buffaloes, and elephants. Keep your eyes open—you may even spot a cheetah hiding in the grass.
You will make a stop at Olduvai Gorge on the border of Ngorongoro and Serengeti National Parks. This dry, dramatic landscape contrasts with Tanzania’s lush areas. From the gorge’s edge, enjoy panoramic views of valleys and highlands. Olduvai is one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, where Mary and Louis Leakey uncovered ancient human remains, confirming East Africa as the cradle of humanity.
The nearby museum, founded by Mary Leakey, showcases discoveries and cultural artifacts from indigenous tribes. An official guide will share the history of the finds and ongoing excavations. When no active digs are happening, you can explore the gorge floor and see where these historic finds were made.
After a picnic lunch, continue to Serengeti National Park – Tanzania’s largest and most famous park. Here, expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and zebras, plus the chance to spot rarer cats like cheetahs and servals. The Serengeti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich wildlife and the spectacular Great Migration.
Your adventure continues in the vibrant central Serengeti area. This vast landscape teems with wildlife, and it is impossible to view it all in one day. Today, your guide will lead you to new spots and highlight fascinating animals, giving you a broader view of the Serengeti’s richness. Seronera is home to some of Africa’s rarest species, including rhinos, leopards, serval cats, and caracals. Sometimes it can take several hours to spot a rare animal, but with a full day ahead, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to focus on the creatures you most want to find.
Time in сentral Serengeti is always full of surprises. Every day in the savannah brings something new – you’re unlikely to see the same scenes twice. Lions that seemed lazy yesterday may be active today, elephants that walked away before might come closer out of curiosity, and you never know what unexpected wildlife moment awaits.
This is also a great opportunity to explore the famous kopjes – ancient volcanic rock formations that shape the beautiful Seronera landscape. Many animals like to rest in their shade, which creates wonderful photographic opportunities.
You may also visit Simba Rock. It resembles the iconic scene from The Lion King, where Mufasa presents baby Simba to the savannah. Seeing this setting in real life adds a fun and memorable touch to your Serengeti experience!
A truly special dining experience in a beautiful outdoor setting near your lodge. The scene is made even more charming with lanterns or candles, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. You can often hear the sounds of wildlife, which adds to the authentic feel. A wonderful mix of delicious food and cultural richness against the enchanting backdrop of the Tanzanian wilderness! Please check with your travel expert what meal options and drinks are included.
A day in Serengeti reveals how perfectly balanced this ancient ecosystem truly is. Driving across the plains, you’ll notice tall termite mounds rising from the grass. These architects shape the savannah by enriching the soil and helping vegetation grow. They also serve as natural lookout towers - especially for topi antelopes, who love standing on top to scan the horizon and display their dominance. Try to spot a few today!
You could spend weeks in this amazing park and still see something new each day, as the balance of wildlife constantly shifts. Cheetahs prefer to hunt in the morning and daytime, avoiding competition with lions and hyenas, who become more active in the cooler hours of late afternoon and night. Leopards rely on stealth at dusk, moving silently through the landscape. In this ever-changing cycle of survival, no two days in the Serengeti are ever the same.
Today, you'll embark on an unforgettable adventure: an airplane flight over the picturesque landscapes of Tanzania. If you'd like to have a short morning game-drive, we recommend that you have breakfast as early as possible — the guide will try to find exciting animal sightings on the way to the airstrip. Another option is to pack up without a rush, have breakfast and leave the lodge in time for your departure flight. You can choose what's best for you on the spot - the guide will accommodate your wish!
Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Note: Hotel check-out is at 10:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out before your evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay for an extra fee. Let your manager know in advance if you need a late check-out.

A few things to note:
- Accommodation is shared in twin/double rooms by default, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Single supplement is available upon request and at an extra cost. Please refer to your tour itinerary to see your accommodation arrangements.
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style.

With Altezza, you can be sure there are no surprising extra local payments. Our safari office specialists take care of all the details for you in advance, ensuring that every necessary fee is paid before the start of your adventure. This means no delays or paperwork at park entry points, allowing you to focus on what matters most: enjoying your time in Tanzania! In the rare event of a medical emergency, you will have access to fast, efficient, and professional air transportation to the nearest hospital or medical facility. Should an emergency arise, we handle all necessary calls to the evacuation service, ensuring a swift response.
This service is particularly valuable when traveling in remote areas where direct access to medical assistance may be limited or unavailable.

Altezza Travel is the first adventure operator in Tanzania to develop its own travel planning software. With our new system, you no longer need to provide long lists of information via email. Instead, you can simply fill out the Personal Trip Board in the Altezza Family travel portal.
This user-friendly platform allows you to provide us with details about your arrival and departure information, dietary plan, insurance and passport information for the necessary permits. You can also use the form to inform us about any allergies or important medical information that we should be aware of before you start your adventure.
The security of your personal information is of utmost importance to our team. Our system is fully secure and uses SSL encryption provided by Cloudflare Inc, a leading provider of cloud security services worldwide. This means that all data transmitted through our system is fully encrypted and secure. Rest assured that only authorized personnel at Altezza Travel will have access to your data.
What's more, in your Personal Trip Board, you can customize your safari experience by adding extra snacks if you enjoy having something tasty on the go - on top of the standard soft drinks and water available in each Land Cruiser. Our Safari Snack Bar option lets you choose your favorite snacks before your trip, and our storage team will pass your order to your guide. On the first day of your safari, you'll find your personalized snack selection ready in the vehicle, so you can enjoy your treats while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Unlike other companies where a sales manager acts as an intermediary between you and the local operations team in Tanzania, our system transmits your information directly to the dashboard of the person in charge. This direct communication line vastly minimizes the chance of human error.
For example, let's say you've indicated your arrival time in our system. In the past, your manager would have had to manually add it to our calendar, and our transfer manager would have had to assign a driver. With so many people arriving in Tanzania, there was always a risk of human error.
But with the new communication system, your arrival time information is instantly transmitted to the dashboard of our transfer manager. The system automatically assigns an available driver to your trip, and activates GPS tracking to monitor their progress. If the driver misses any check-points on the way, the system will alert the transfer manager to take corrective action and ensure that you're picked up on time.
We use similar streamlined communication flows for all our travel operations. For instance, all safari requests are processed through our software, which automatically assigns available guides and vehicles for your trip. Hotel reservations are verified by our system to make sure there are no discrepancies with your customized itinerary. Our safari managers then review and ensure that all data is correctly handled. Your dietary requirements are shared with our reservations office and safari lodges to ensure they are prepared to accommodate your individual needs or restrictions. With this system, you can be confident that every detail of your trip is taken care of and that there's zero risk of losing any critical information along the way.
What's more, our user-friendly system is designed to make travel planning fun and engaging. In addition to the intuitive interface, we've added a special feature that turns filling in the required information into a game. As you provide the necessary details for the organization of your trip, you'll receive pop-ups with interesting information about African animals. This way, you can learn more about the wildlife you'll be seeing during your adventure while completing the travel-related paperwork.
At Altezza Travel, we believe that travel planning should be easy, enjoyable, and informative. Our innovative system is just one of the many ways we strive to provide exceptional service to our clients.
When you choose Altezza Travel for your trip, you're making a meaningful contribution to the development of local communities in Tanzania. We're committed to sustainability, and as part of our pledge, we allocate a part of our profits to various social responsibility initiatives. Here are some examples:
- We're proud to be one of the first donors to the Serengeti De-snaring Project, a conservation initiative of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The project is working to remove snares, traps, and other poaching devices from Tanzania's national parks.
- In 2023, we partnered with Nature Tanzania and invested over $12,000 to save the population of the Long-billed Tailorbird. A special conservation site has been established in the Amani Forest, where our team conducts extensive research and conservation operations. With fewer than 250 birds remaining, this species is considered 'critically endangered' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and urgent action is needed to prevent their extinction.
- We donate $1,000 annually to the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary. Black rhinos in Tanzania are critically endangered due to poaching. The Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary, along with the Moru Kopjes area in Serengeti National Park, are the only places where black rhinos are still present in critically low numbers. Mkomazi is home to the larger population, but it still needs support. One of the recent newborns at Mkomazi was named Altezza by the park staff, and we are proud to sponsor and care for this baby rhino!
- In response to the growing crisis of deforestation, we have undertaken several large-scale tree-planting efforts on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and in the surrounding areas. We are currently planning additional reforestation activities to further combat the issue.
- Altezza Travel is on a mission to improve the lives of students in the remote Materuni area. Over 50 local students have been attending a school with dilapidated classrooms, a leaking roof, and a lack of essential educational materials. The teachers have been doing their best to maintain a positive learning environment, but they are struggling with limited resources. That's where Altezza Travel stepped in. We began funding the renovation of the school, providing building materials, and supplying educational materials as well as sports equipment. Our goal is to create a brighter future for these children by providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.
- Creating job opportunities is a powerful way to support local communities. We're proud that Altezza has become a sought-after employer for both experienced professionals and fresh graduates. As an equal opportunity employer, we celebrate Tanzania's diverse workforce, focusing on motivation and commitment when hiring for office positions, and welcoming fresh graduates and career-changers. To keep our team competitive, we provide ongoing training, personalized development plans, and access to industry-leading resources.
- We're committed to using local suppliers for all our operations and have made a deliberate decision to avoid large agricultural companies in favor of small farmers from the surrounding communities.
- Finally, on February 5, 2025, Altezza Travel earned the prestigious Travelife Certification - one of the highest international standards for sustainability in tourism. This isn’t just a badge - it confirms that our efforts in employee welfare, community support, and environmental conservation are real and measurable. To qualify, companies must meet over 160 strict criteria across operations, sustainability management, supplier relations, and guest communication. Altezza is also a member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, further underlining our dedication to responsible travel.
- International flights
Our safari packages don’t include international flights. You’ll be responsible for covering those costs separately. Feel free to contact your manager to get recommendations about the airlines operating flights to Tanzania.
- Tips to the safari guide
Tipping your guide is a common and appreciated gesture in the tourism world. While never required at Altezza Travel, we do encourage guests to tip their safari guides if you're happy with the service. A typical recommendation is $30-$50 per day per vehicle.
If your itinerary includes additional activities like nature walks, night game drives, or walking safaris, you may also consider tipping the park ranger or specialist guide who accompanies your group. A customary tip is $10-20 USD per group. These experts play an important role in enhancing your safari experience.
- Visa fee
Most nationals are required to pay USD 50 for a one-time, single-entry 90-day visa. USA nationals, however, are required to pay $100 for a multi-entry visa. Contact our travel advisors to learn more about Tanzania visa rules and requirements.
- Single supplement
Our safari tours include shared accommodation in a twin/double room by default. If you’d like to arrange a single room, please reach out to our travel experts in advance. Single accommodation can be booked at an extra cost and subject to availability.
- Travel insurance
Travel insurance is highly recommended for a safari - and in many cases, it’s required. There are no specific insurance policies just for safaris, but a good travel insurance plan should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations or delays, and lost or delayed luggage. While our packages include air ambulance coverage through AMREF Flying Doctors, any hospital treatment and other associated costs should be covered either by your travel insurance or paid personally. Always check that your policy is valid in Tanzania.
