About Tanzania About Tanzania

Tanzania expects to receive more than $280 million over the next 20 years for conservation projects and to unlock the economic potential of its national parks. The funds will come through four investment agreements signed by the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA).

The potential investments cover the Burko area in Monduli (Arusha Region), as well as three blocks in the Selous Game Reserve (MHJ1, MHJ2, and ML1) in the Lindi Region. At the signing ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism Pindi Chana stressed that residents of communities near Selous will directly benefit from these projects, particularly through job creation.

“This investment is a practical translation of the National Development Vision 2025–2050, which seeks to make Tanzania a leading tourist destination in Africa and one of the top three African countries with a conducive investment and business environment,” – The Citizen quoted the minister as saying.

To ensure financial sustainability, TAWA has developed a five-year development strategy. The plan includes improving the country’s tourism infrastructure and introducing new products. For example, the organization is finalizing plans to create a wildlife park in the Jambiani Muyuni Forest (on Unguja Island).

Tanzania attracted 5.3 million tourists

It was recently announced that Tanzania has met its annual target for tourist arrivals ahead of schedule: by April 2025, the country welcomed 5.3 million visitors. This surpasses the original goal of 5 million tourists set for the end of the year.

According to official statements, this achievement reflects the rapid recovery of the tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the country’s growing status as one of Africa’s leading destinations. The result was made possible through investments in tourism promotion, infrastructure improvements, and reforms aimed at enhancing service quality and traveler safety.
