Tloma Lodge on the map
Tloma Lodge is located in Karatu, a region with a vivid cultural background. Here you can find yourself right in the middle of the Maasai people’s daily life whose cow and goat herds can be seen near the town of Karatu on your way to the lodge. Local markets and villages will give you a glimpse of living in the midst of wilderness. Trips to the Lake Eyasi will guide you to meet the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes.
From here, you can tread in the steps of the Great Migration around Ngorongoro Conservation Area and further, on your memorable safari in the Ngorongoro Crater. Tloma Lodge is similarly perfect for those who want to spend a day in Lake Manyara National Park to see flamingos and pelicans - it is only an hour away. Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater would be particularly engaging in January and February as you can catch the calving season of wildebeest. The period from June to September is perfect for safari: vegetation becomes thinner, giving an easier chance to spot the animals. Lake Manyara National Park features peculiarly scenic views in the rainy November or spring months, with its lush vegetation and waterfalls, when huge populations migrating flamingos, pelicans, cormorants and storks are attracted to the lake.
