TWC Kitela Lodge
TWC Kitela Lodge 4*
If you want to plunge into a delightful life in the tropical rainforest, Kitela Lodge is just the right place to stay! A larger two-storey farmhouse is surrounded by twenty smaller, but still spacious, cottage suites interconnected with tidy paths. It is a small camping from Tanganyika Wilderness Camps collection, boasting an exclusive location right near the Ngorongoro Crater.
Kitela Lodge is located right at the foothills of a majestic Ngorongoro Crater, facing its eastern wall covered with rainforest. A nearby coffee plantation shaped the interior of the suites styled as colonial houses. Cottages are enveloped in greenery - fresh leaves leaning towards cottage walls; trees sheltering you on your walk through a exuberant garden; brightly blooming bushes around the cottages guarding the intimacy of your stay. The atmosphere of the setting is really unwinding, offering relaxation among the massive greenery. A heated swimming pool and sundeck with loungers and umbrellas are safely secluded amidst lush palms and bushes. Next to the pool is the main farmhouse with a scenic view terrace on the second storey featuring a dining area and overlooking an exceptionally close wall of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Surely, the most appealing experience in Kitela Lodge is a safari in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, just some steps away from the cottages. The place is as well perfect for those heading to Lake Manyara National Park, just an hour drive from here. The greatest attractions are the calving season of wildebeest in February and all-year round safari with buffalos, zebras, lions and other African inhabitants.

Cultural routes to their villages are a part of enjoyable excursions that will also take you to the local markets and villages of Karatu. Safari around Ngorongoro Conservation Area and a trip to Ngorongoro Crater will be the most memorable experiences for those who want to follow the Great Migration route. If you are a bird lover, have a game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park - only an hour away from the Kitela Lodge. Flamingos and pelicans come there in the rainy season for nesting. If you are lucky to find yourself in Ngorongoro area in January and early February, you will be able to discover the calving season of wildebeest. The period from June to September is perfect for safari as animals are easier seen in thinner vegetation.
